Citing staffing issues, the Tillamook Forest Center will remain 'closed until further notice'
The Tillamook Forest Center will not open the first weekend in March this year, extending a closure that first began due to the coronavirus pandemic on March 15, 2020. The Oregon Department of Forestry does not know when the center, now shuttered for almost two years, will reopen to the public.
Cal Mukumoto tapped to become next State Forester
The next leader of the Oregon Department of Forestry was selected Friday morning
by the Oregon Board of Forestry, who unanimously chose Calvin “Cal” Mukumoto, of
Coos Bay, for the job of State Forester.

Volunteers sought to staff Tillamook Forest Center for 2022 season
While the Tillamook Forest Center has yet to reopen following what was
initially

A helicopter crashed in a remote area in the Tillamook Forest area in Tillamook
County Wednesday morning, the Tillamook County Sheriff’s Office said.
Responding around 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 8, the sheriff’s office and other
agencies found the helicopter in a remote region near the South Fork

The Tillamook Forest Center will remain closed through the rest of the year, the

Crews mopping up fully lined 74 acre Cedar Butte Fire
The Cedar Butte Fire is now 74 acres, crews have fully lined the fire, and are
now focused on containment and mop up.
In what the Oregon Department of Forestry said would likely be their last update
on the fire in the Tillamook State Forest, the outlook was good. All
Cedar Butte Fire remains at 60 acres as crews expect to begin mopping up this weekend
