Stagecoach Horse Camp closed due to logging operation in area

A logging operation near the Stagecoach Horse Camp, located just west of Browns Camp, has closed the horse camp temporarily, the Oregon Department of Forestry said.

According to ODF spokesperson Jason Cox, the closure is tentatively expected to be around two to four weeks long, but could vary depending on weather and other factors.

Logging activities will be taking place adjacent to Rutherford Road, but the only roads expected to be closed are those that provide access to the camp.

Stagecoach Horse Camp is a popular staging area for equestrians using the Tillamook State Forest, and is a common spot to start a historic trail loop that links the Nels Rogers Trail, the Gravelle Brothers Trails, University Falls, and the Wilson River Wagon Road Trail, a former toll road and stagecoach route that comprised the only road between Forest Grove and Tillamook when it opened in 1893.
